‘Nationwide protests if Dharmendra Pradhan does not resign by 5 pm’, warns Dipke
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Saturday warned of nationwide protests if Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan does not resign by 5 pm. Speaking during a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, Dipke said demonstrations would be organised across multiple cities over the next week and announced plans for another large gathering at Jantar Mantar next Saturday.
The protest was launched after Dipke returned to India earlier in the day. Participants demanded the resignation of the education minister over alleged lapses related to examinations and recruitment tests. Protesters also called for fairness and credibility in competitive examinations, accountability in the education system, attention to students’ mental health, normal functioning of education in Manipur, and proper training before further digitalisation of education.
Educationist and activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the demonstration and said that the demand for the minister’s resignation was only the beginning. He stated that the broader objective was to reform the education system, adding that examination irregularities and paper leaks reflected deeper structural issues. During the protest, some participants raised slogans calling for Wangchuk to become the education minister.
Political support for the agitation also emerged during the day. NCP (SP) leader Rohit Pawar backed the protest and said the participation of young people reflected dissatisfaction over examination-related issues and government policies affecting students. He also supported the demand for the resignation of the education minister.
